GTAero Servers Back Up

The GTAero Server has been brought back up.  Its not much of one; and will only do good for some basic testing with Plasma’s server code.

If you would like to see the stats on our server (which may or may not be offline at random times) please check out our phpSysInfo Script.

labs 2.0

Well, I’ve been working on Labs.  Not a lot, not too much; just enough, and I think I’m ready to tell you about some of the changes that are going into labs.

XML APIs for one, these APIs will hold various information about the going-ons for PoKéQuesT, and will all be placed into an XSLT.

Web 2.0 is another.  We’re incorporating JavaScript and AJAX technology to make the website more interactive; and more feature-rich.

XHTML 1.1, SVG 1.1 & CSS 3.  We’re adopting the newest standards to make our website work; updating to the latest technology.  We will of course continue to strive for backwards comparability with Mozilla, WebKit/KHTML, and IE; but if you want to use the best features; we recommend that you go ahead and grab the Opera Web Browser.

Working Hard or Hardly Working?

I’ve only worked a little bit recently; I just haven’t been getting the vibe that allows me to go out and do a heck of a lot all at once.  I’m kind of irritated about the site; and I’m thinking about maybe starting it all over again; except that I really like the theme…

I actually created a pretty good theme now, but I’m thinking I should really re-design the site.

I’m thinking about possibly setting the site in with the newest standards out there.

That’s right, programming the website to be entirely XML.

Of course, this won’t work on old web browsers; so I’ll probably just stick with XHTML for now.

The APIs and such though, will be programmed using XML and will probably all have XSLT transformations on them to make them look nice.

On the DS side, I have worked a little bit on the Day/Night Online stuff.  I got the PHP up and working so that it shows the information for the past two weeks.  Still no XSLT for it yet, but the PHP is all in place for it.

The only other problem with that now is the development on the DS side; its not going well.

I’m also thinking about creating more APIs similar to these that work with the computer data; or maybe eventually I’ll combine them all into one with a single API that tells what’s going on with everything.

Who knows? Nobody yet. ^^;

Nintendo DS

I think I’ve started getting into things on the Nintendo DS that I really never should’ve touched.

I’m trying to work on an options system to allow for login and register as per the DS, but I don’t know how well that is going to go.

I hope to eventually enable it to be able to Login and Register using it.

I’ve tried using the PALib’s API system, and I’ve tried using sprites, both of these to no real avail.

I think instead I’m just going to use a background and plot the (X,Y)(X,Y) coordinates, and detect if the user is pressing in one of them.

Then it shall continue on.

The problem then, that I have, will be using sprites and maps.

Will each region need a actual graphic map placed on the DS in order for it to actually work?  And then there is controlling the sprites?

This is becoming a lot of hassle.

So much Hassle, in fact, that I really believe that neither Matand009 nor I can continue on with this project.

So we’re issuing a call-out to any DS Developer interested in our project.

Please, step forth, and email me.

Labs is "Online"

Yes, I did quote “Online” there because it is not entirely online.

The one thing that I didn’t take with me from my old host was the MySQL Database.

So until we get things up and working, the site will display that it is having some database problems, and will refer you to this blog :3

Eventually, I hope to get the web-based system back up.

Also, in regards to MySQL and Server/Website communication, I’ll talk more about what we’re doing with that later.

That’s all for now,

~Navarr

    To Nahin

This is actually a direct response to the comments posted by Nahin.

“Can we send you Pokémon music to add into the game, and if yes what format?”

    A. No.  All music that we are using is being made by our SFX Designer matand009 originally.  We are not using any of Nintendo’s music.

“I’ll tell you this , if you want to make money for pokequest

let people know your not dead!!!

go on dcemu and make a NEW post, and try other sites too

    just a hint =)”

I tried to contact wragster about posting a new article on dcemu, but he has neither replied nor posted the article.  I’ve also tried to get the article posted on DS Fanboy, but to no avail.  If you can get it posted anywhere, then God Bless :-p.

On another note, we’re not trying to “make money” only to raise money to pay for a dedicated server.  Once we’ve raised the money to pay for a dedicated, we’ll be able to have a lot more freedom with development of PoKéQuesT.

    Build 04 (Demo 2)

Yea, Yea, We did a little bit of talk about Build 04 (Public Demo 2), and I posted a link to PALib’s forums which no longer seem to be working, however, I’ll post some more info here.

For those with Flashcarts, this is supposedly DLDI enabled (I hope?).

You can download this build from Sourceforge.

    PoKéQuesT DS (Demo #2)

Demo #2 of PoKéQuesT DS has been released.  I guess we can effectively title this Build 4.

    Details at the PALib Thread.

    Website Up and Under Construction

Labs is back up and under heavy construction.  We have it under the same hosting that we had the previous one (it wasn’t our host that went bad, it was our domain owner) so we’re still being hosted by Eevee’sHQ at least as far as the development website goes.  Anyone who goes to the site now, will be redirected to this blog.

I have restored the two most important Topsites, however, our affiliates will have to wait until our new site is up to have their link exchange up.  I am sorry about this, but it is a lot of hassle right now, and there is a lot of JavaScript and code that I have to go through and edit to get your links working, and quite frankly, I don’t really have the time with all this going on, game development is our first priority.

I would also like to announce that PoKéQuesT will be developing a API that will record statistics about connections from the Nintendo DS.  This API will not include information from PC users, as it is going to be used with WFCStatus; a program that tracks statistics for all Nintendo DS games that use WiFi, including homebrew.  PoKéQuesT will be one of the homebrew titles to have an API that WFCStatus can use.

That seems to be all the information we have for now.  I’ll talk more later, when I get some more done.
